Planning Ahead to Camp In US National Parks

Sure it seems a little early to be planning your next camping trip when the snow is starting to pile up outside your window, especially if you are someone who likes to take spontaneous trips on the weekend.  However, if you plan on camping in one of the National Parks this next coming camping season you need to start planning in advance because the most popular sites can be reserved up to 5 months in advance.

National Parks were sanctioned to preserve the land and let everyone enjoy them but part of preserving the land means not as many campgrounds for you to setup your canvas tents or family cabin tents on.  This is because the National Park system entails millions of acres of land all over the country, and their jurisdiction isn’t just over parks but also historical homes and battlegrounds.  Also, if people are constantly using the land, it makes it harder to preserve.

Particularly busy are parks like Yosemite which is notorious for its campgrounds getting filled up very quickly once they are available to reserve.  Why wouldn’t it be, it offers beautiful landscapes, waterfalls, towering Sequoia trees and views of the majestic Half Dome.

Other popular destinations include The Great Smoky Mountains, the Rockies, and Yellowstone, just to name a few.  All of these parks see millions of visitors with a limited number of campgrounds.  This makes it crucial to start planning an upcoming camping trip as soon as you can!  First, pick the National Park you want to visit and then find out which campground would be ideal for your adventure.  Federal campgrounds have plenty of information available online so that you can search through, even maps of campgrounds and their individual sites for pitching your tent. While finding a good place to camp doesn’t normally require so much planning in advance, National Parks are definitely an exception. If you think you want to camp in one this summer make sure you plan and reserve a site so that you can ensure that you get to enjoy these beautiful parks this summer.
